Standard Wiring Procedure for Drum Risers

If you use this numbering protocol for wiring a drum riser with microphone cables, then another sound person can troubleshoot or rewire the riser.

Input 1
Kick or bass drum
Input 2 Snare drum
Input 3 Hi Hat
Input 4 Rack tom 1
Input 5 Rack tom 2
Input 6 Floor tom
Input 7 Overhead stage left
Input 8 Overhead stage right

Coil any excess mic cable at the base of each individual mic stand rather at the mic snake or sub snake box. This provides some extra cable in case the stand needs to be moved or the riser cleared to set up a new drum kit.
